Every new pump.fun token starts life on a bonding curve. Instead of an order book or a traditional liquidity pool, a smart contract sets the price automatically based on how much supply has been bought. Early buyers get in cheap; every purchase pushes the price higher along the curve, and every sell pushes it back down. There is no team holding a giant allocation at launch, which is the whole fair-launch pitch.
Graduation happens when enough SOL flows in to fill the curve. At that point the bonding curve closes, and the accumulated SOL plus the remaining tokens are migrated into a proper AMM liquidity pool — today that is pump.fun's own PumpSwap, after years of tokens migrating to Raydium.
